Global rename for Gadir[edit]

Hi everyone. I don't have many global activities right now but I can take this permission voluntarily usually to look local requests. First of all, I know that I'm not an admin in any project yet (I know that this is not an obstacle or a necessity), but you can trust me and I don't have any blocks. I have enough experience and I have some permissions in many projects. I know global rename policy and local username policy. Why do I want it so much? Because for a long time, I always especially direct the newcomers who have incorrect names to the local page to be changed their names. I inform and encourage them. But I can't take action because of lack of authority. Currently only one user locally has this permission and this is a bad situation. I'm a candidate and volunteer for this permission in order to help and share this work burden. I was a candidate last year as well and I have improved myself a lot since then. Right now I can just engage with reporting inappropriate names but it isn't enough for me. You all can look at my contributions. I'm active in the project and it seems like more than one of these permissions is needed, and as you all can see, it is needed. Recently the latest request which was waiting to be solved for a long time was done by TenWhile6. I had redirected him to this page for name change a while ago. I'm interested in pages and situations like this: Requested moves, Changing username, Files for upload (third page was created new). I will continue to do my best regardless of the result. Thanks for your all attention! All the best wishes to everyone, Gadir (talk) 20:02, 30 April 2024 (UTC)
Let me explain this: I posted a notice about it on the local wiki, in the Village pump. I thought it might be useful. To get their opinions. Best, Gadir (talk) 21:03, 30 April 2024 (UTC)

Everyone,
I guess this user is the user who has been blocked indefinitely on Azerbaijani Wikipedia. He was banned indefinitely by community decision because he committed many serious violations. (undisclosed paid-contributions, conflict of interest, legal threats, puppet accounts) He applied for unblock a month ago, but the community unanimously rejected it. Now he's trying to disrupt Wikipedia. Other users can also prove this (Nemoralis, Solavirum, White Demon). You can ask if you wish. The puppet issue was just a technical error and was later corrected. I was patient throughout this process (even if i'm sad), because I was right. There was a mistake and it was corrected. Vincent Vega might also explain it. Any problem? I'm currently patroller on Turkish Wikipedia. Would they give this to an insecure user? I think no. He disrupts the functioning of Wikipedia. He is trying to denigrate me because like other users, I strongly opposed him unblock. Like the others. The user is definitely not here to build an encyclopedia. He uses Wikipedia for his own "businnes" interests.
Yes there have been some problems in the past. I may make mistakes like everyone else. I want everyone to know this: My goal is to work for the projects and give my contributions. I use these permissions in this way. As I said, whether or not I have this permission will not affect my activity, I will continue. I just wanted to clarify the issue. Thanks for reading this far. Best regards, Gadir (talk) 14:10, 1 May 2024 (UTC)
- Support I am not sure if the anonymous user above is the user Gadir mentioned. I was on wikibreak during checkuser investigation so I don't know much about that. - I have no relation with these accounts. It was just a technical error. You can read it here. Gadir (talk) 14:44, 1 May 2024 (UTC)

- @Syunsyunminmin, sorry if you see it that way, but it is not like that. It complies with local policy, there is no any violation. As I said, I will also be active locally. I explained it there and above. Should we have discussed this with the local community before the request? But, if there are too many objections, I can remove it. Or I can shorten it. No problem. Hi! I use the global editinterface and deleter permissions to run the Synchbot service and maintain my scripts crosswiki (mostly the former now). I'm not active in editing anymore, but I've been running Synchbot regularly each month since 2008. (This month's run is paused due to the permissions expiring.) Stewards have said they'd rather not take over Synchbot, so I'd like to continue this work. —Pathoschild 18:18, 08 May 2024 (UTC)

- Strong support thanks for continuing to do this - another 2 or 3 years (or even longer) should be uncontroversial. Can I just ask if you have more recently asked stewards if they want to take over the bot? The linked discussion is from 6 years ago by now, and the membership of the steward corps has changed a bit. --DannyS712 (talk) 23:42, 8 May 2024 (UTC)
- Nope, but the offer is still open if the stewards want to handle Synchbot going forward. —Pathoschild 00:15, 09 May 2024 (UTC)
- How about other users? Leaderboard (talk) 08:13, 9 May 2024 (UTC)
- I'd be hesitant to give it to non-stewards. Synchbot is a flexible tool for cross-wiki changes which could be troublesome if it was leaked or abused (e.g. it could trivially automate vandalism across any number of wikis + pages + accounts). That's why it's not open-source at stewards' request, unlike all my other tools and scripts. It also needs a certain level of global cross-wiki trust (which is why it was originally a steward-only tool and now has its own global group with a specific remit), and involves a number of rules and exceptions on local wikis (some of which are specific to my account so they'd need to be renegotiated). So while anyone could theoretically run Synchbot if they got these groups too, I think we'd need a larger community discussion about whether we want to do that. —Pathoschild 14:20, 09 May 2024 (UTC)
