Community Wishlist Survey 2022/Mobile and apps/Show editnotices on mobile

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Show editnotices on mobile

  • Problem: Editnotices (messages shown above the edit window) are crucial communication tools. They let editors know important pieces of information, from requirements for adding entries to list articles to ArbCom revert rules and discretionary sanctions. However, they are currently not shown to mobile web editors at all. These users therefore often do precisely the things the editnotices warn against, creating general chaos.
  • Proposed solution: Implement functionality to display editnotices on mobile. Given the more limited screen real estate on mobile, it may also be necessary to create tools to help the community prioritize which notices are important enough to be shown there.
  • Who would benefit: All mobile editors, as well as anyone who's ever had to deal with a mobile editor doing something problematic because they weren't shown an editnotice
  • More comments: Previously proposed last year.
