Problem in gl.wp

(I'm not sure this is the right place to post this.) I'm a Galician administrator and I'll explain the problem we have: General message MediaWiki:Blockedtext/en says You can contact $1 or another administrator to discuss the block, and local MediaWiki:Blockedtext Blocked users can edit their own user talk page, unless specifically disallowed from doing so. In Galician Wikipedia there have been some blocked users who complained about this, saying that they couldn't edit their own talk pages while logged in. I checked information in English Wikipedia and I read there is an option in the blocking form to "(dis)allow user to edit its own talk page". Then I went to Galician form and I realize that there isn't that option. Could somebody fix this or help us to fix it? Thanks.

Saudos, —Dferg (talk) 19:40, 25 June 2009 (UTC)

Vandal/impersonator

The following discussion is closed.

User:Aschlafly is a vandal/impersonator of Conservapedia founder Andy Schlafly. It is not him, as can be seen here. It's most likely someone from [ir]RationalWiki, a wiki with a very unhealthy obsession with Conservapedia. They (along with the IP 72.68.194.224) are currently vandalizing Talk:List_of_largest_wikis. 67.135.49.42 17:15, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

Please don't get involved in editwaring though, thanks, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 17:58, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

Another problem in gl.wp

Hello again! I'm an administrator of the Galician Wikipedia. Since a year, there have been made editions in the page called "Vila de Cruces" (history) which only consist in the inclusion of a link (always the same). We have to remove it constantly and we're fed up because the person edits from different IP adresses and he/she can evade the block. I need an idea to stop and prevent this because I wouldn't want to protect indefinitely the page. Here are some explamples (among many others):

Thanks for your help! --Toliño Fala aquí comigo 15:03, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

Hello Toliño, why not semiprotecting the page for a while, that would affect only new users (4 days) and IP-users, not logged in users.

Impostor on Wikisource

Today, I wished to join Wikisource. When I went to register my usual Wikimedia account name, "Thekohser", I found that someone had recently taken it. I suspect that there is some formal way that I may challenge this interloper for rightful possession of what is, rather clearly, "my" pseudonymous claim? -- Thekohser 14:05, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Create a temporary account and ask on here. Majorly talk 17:31, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
As Majorly said (and said there too already long before), plus note that the account had been created before You created a global account (namely on 9. júlí 2009 kl. 14:19), thus the name was not proteced and You have no right to say that the other one is not the rightful owner, it is now only the project in questions willingness to cooperate if they let You usurp that account, if they don't that is totally acceptable too. Best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 17:35, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
Thank you, all. I am indeed being helped by the bureaucrat there at Wikisource, BirgitteSB. -- Thekohser 18:09, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Page protection for MediaWiki localisation

Please consider to semi-protect the page MediaWiki localisation (see its history). Thank you! --UV 18:53, 17 July 2009 (UTC)

Heads up folks...

I detect a pattern here - Special:DeletedContributions/Marina101e, Special:DeletedContributions/Lena101e & Special:DeletedContributions/Katya101e. Spamming talk pages, maybe bot created, possibly using exploited IPs. I guess this may be a cross wiki issue so folks may wish to keep an eye here & elsewhere. Cheers --Herby talk thyme 18:57, 20 July 2009 (UTC)

Plus Special:Contributions/Fagey1001d & Special:DeletedContributions/Georga1001d. I'm blacklisting the links & will block any abused IP. Cheers --Herby talk thyme 14:44, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
