Hello. May I ask why you reverted the edit? --Minorax«¦talk¦» 09:05, 22 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hello @Minorax,
It was moving for the "subscribe" button, I just did "undo" for it.
Thank you for your understanding. ARamadan-WMF (talk) 09:29, 22 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Um, I didn't move the subscribe button. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 09:52, 22 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Whoops, seems like it was done inadvertently. I moved it back and retained the rest of my edits. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 09:54, 22 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
It's okay; it happens :)
Thanks a lot again for your understanding! ARamadan-WMF (talk) 09:59, 22 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Interested in providing feedback[edit]

Hi @ARamadan-WMF!

Hope you're doing well. I read the recent mobile apps newsletter. An opportunity to provide feedback on image recommendations on Android was mentioned there. I just want to express my interest on the same.

Let me know how I could help :-)

Translate markup[edit]

Dear ARamadan,

For information, I edited Wikimedia Apps/Newsletter/First quarter of 2024 because it did not comply with internationalization guidelines:

  • Text which should not be localized (mainly link targets) should be wrapped inside <tvar>.
  • Long lists should be split in several units. Unfortunately, if we split a list, we must use a <translate> tag pair for each item (i.e. at least one pair per bullet); excluding the leading bullet. We cannot add an empty line between items to split units, because it would render as several one-item lists (no main visible issue, but a bit annoying for screen readers used by blind people).

Also, for MassMessage extension, we need section tags for subject and content; so the translate tags cannot wrap wikitext heading syntax as we should do for other pages (i.e. an exception to i18n guidelines).

By the way, I also changed some link labels to make them as explicit as possible: a general recommendation on the web is avoiding “click here” or “this link” labels.

Best regards, -- Pols12 (talk) 14:22, 7 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Question: @Cookai1205 noted the “In the ongoing quarter” sentence was not split from previous unit, we’re not sure whether it is expected. Should it be let alone as it is, in distinct paragraph? Should it be a new list item (so we should add a leading bullet)? Or should it be merged with previous unit (removing the new line character)? Pols12 (talk) 14:36, 7 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you, @Pols12, for your notes on the edits. I will ensure to follow these guidelines in future issues. Thank you again. --ARamadan-WMF (talk) 12:30, 25 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
