Another Question (and an important one at that)

Hello. In the Wikipedias of various languages, the procedures for nominating and granting the status of Administrators are described in minute detail. But the procedures for evaluating the quality of an Administrator's behaviour and for his/her potential removal are missing, or at any rate very hard to find. Ostensibly the privileges (of an Admin.) are bestowed for life, as does Knighthood; or are they? Some Administrators behave as if they had a superior status (this is no criticism, it's just the plain truth) and sometimes misinterpret their role. I have a specific complaint case against an Administrator of the Wikipedia in Spanish language (an Admin is called a "Bibliotecario" there), but have no information as to whom should I submit my predicament to. I am not the only one to have been abused by this individual: if one looks at his discussion page, one can clearly see that after he infuriates someone by doing something nasty to him/her, then he rutinarily dismisses his critics as trolls, treats them with derision, or either ignores them altogether (my case until now).

What to do? Help! Regards, AVM 18:24, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

  • I think, your complaint has to go to the spanish Wikipedia user community, who appointed the admin. So it would have to be their job to revoke admin privileges if they consider someone not worthy any more to have them. My suggestion is to dig in the spanish Wikipedia for admin removal procedures. I none have been established, try the way admins are voted into office, just file a voting request for removal. Maybe, if the person can be expected to interfere with the voting using his or her privileges, try to warn her or him against it, e.g. saying that, he has to refrain from any personal interaction with the voting, and he must leave all administrative edits in this context to other admins, who are not personally involved in any way. Hopefully, public attention and control will either help the person to behave better, or indeed loose admin privileges. -- Purodha Blissenbach 21:42, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
  • Btw. You should have choosen a headline saying what you're asking. -- Purodha Blissenbach 21:42, 12 June 2006 (UTC)

Update

Instead of constant updating of the biggest wikis, the list of wikis with 0 admins should be updated, as the situation has dramatically changed during the year and half without any update. (I'd do it myself, but I have work on the Incubator...) — Timichal • 20:32, 24. Aug 2006

I am still working on it. I have plans to build a network, so people from all wikis will easily know and update their project and language at meta. Todays update was only for template update and visual update. Further work will follow. --Dbl2010 21:29, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
